I have a confession to make. I have a "neatness" compulsion of sorts, and paint and splatter are not among my favorite things in life. (You do not want to see how meticulously I prep a room before we paint in our house. Yikes!)
Although out of my usual comfort range, I purchased the Hero Arts "Brush Strokes" cling stamp set after seeing several cards made by the super-uber-talented Donna Mikasa (you can see her blog HERE). I bought it over a year ago but never opened it...honestly I felt threatened by it! However, when I saw the cue for this week, I knew it was time. (Deep breaths!)

Funny thing...after I got over the fear of it all, I made two more cards! This time, I added some yellow splatters, a yellow paint strip across the sentiment area, and some coordinating enamel dots.

ReplyDeleteOh, booooy, look at you go, Judy!! What can be next, freehand painting around a window frame??!! Eeek!! Okay, calm down, I understand completely! But, honestly, you really rocked this swipe stamp and I adore all of your creations! More, please!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards Judy!
ReplyDeleteYOu make me want to play with paint ;))
Thank You!
Yikes--these are all fantastic. Stamping strips of paint and splotches is about as random as I will ever get, too. So many fantastic ideas here.
ReplyDeleteLove these Judy and good for you at being brave!!!
ReplyDeleteJudy, I 'wanted' that stamp when it first came out, but was too hesitant; like you, splatters and things 'uncontrolled' aren't part of my crafting repertoire. Seeing your card here has changed my tune! Adding the brush strokes to my wish list. LOVE this!

I feel the same way about splatters and splotches, but I have to say you did an amazing job with this stamp set, Judy! Your brush strokes are actually 'neat and tidy', and I love all the color combos you chose! Looks like you've changed my mind about this stamp :-)
ReplyDeleteJudy all of your cards are fantastic, yes it is hard to make a mess when it is not your style but you made your mess beautifully!
ReplyDeletenever would have guessed that you were intimidated by that stamp set because your cards are amazing... but i completely understand because these kinds of stamps tend to freak me out, too!

I consider myself a neat freak but I love playing with the two different brush stroke sets I own. One can just get wild and be totally creative. Your cards (not singular) came out amazing.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are stunning! You've definitely overcome your neatness compulsion here.

ReplyDeleteYou're not alone in the meticulous paint prep department! I think that's the very reason why I don't paint a room unless I'm absolutely positive I want to dig my heels in!
ReplyDeleteLove the dripping paint look &, of course, I think that big HAPPY sentiment is fabulous!!! :)
This is a lovely set, Judy! Love the gorgeous colors and design! Congrats on the Hero Arts Tweet!
