CASology #234: YOUTH

Hello, friends!  I'm here today with a card for the newest cue card at CASology!

This week we are sponsored by Kitty Bee Designs, and the Design Team members were given some free digi images to play with for this challenge.  I played with this adorable image called "iPod Panda" and added my own computer-generated sentiment.

I'm also linking this card up to the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

What does YOUTH bring to mind for you?  Be sure to link up your card by noon on Monday (Central time). Check out our Design Team and Guest Designer blogs to see how they interpreted the cue this week, too!

CASology #233: GLISTEN

Hello, friends!  It's that time...a new cue card is up at CASology!

I have several 6x6 pads of glitter paper in my stash, and I love the way die cut images glisten when I use those papers.  They worked especially well with dies such as these little "Chirping Birds" dies from our sponsor, Poppystamps.  I love how the red just pops against the blue sky!  In this scene, I also went for the glistening snow along with my glistening birds.

Supplies:
Stamps: Simon Says Stamp (Friendship Messages); Hero Arts (Long Shadow)
Dies: Poppystamps (Chirping Birds); Memory Box (Resting Birds); Spellbinders
     (Shapeabilities Mix'd Media Elements)
Inks: MFT (Black Licorice); Tumbled Glass distress ink; brown Copic marker
Other: red glitter paper; white foam; white Enamel Accents

Since I used a NBUS die (that cool Spellbinders branch), I'm entering this card into Darnell's Blog Birthaversary NBUS Challenge #9!  Be sure to stop by her blog to check it out as well as to wish her happy 46th wedding anniversary, happy 5th blog birthaversary, and happy 1,000 followers and 1,000 posts!  (Lots to celebrate, that's for sure!)

I'm also entering this into the current challenge at AAA Cards: CAS Game #82 - Winter Chill.  These birds could be sitting on this branch in any one of those snowy trees!

So, what does GLISTEN mean to you?  I hope you will play along!  Be sure to link up your GLISTEN card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the many ways our Design Team interpreted the cue this week...I hope you'll check out their blogs, too!

CASology #232: CUT

Hello, friends!  Welcome to a new week and a new cue card at CASology!

This week our sponsor is STAMPlorations, and they have a great selection of dies (CUTplorations thin metal dies).  They cut so cleanly!  I decided to play with a birthday word die since I seem to make more birthday cards than any other type throughout the year.

I paired a Hero Arts "Happy" sentiment with the STAMPlorations die cut "Birthday" and then lightly stenciled the blue and gray circles using the ARTplorations "Retro Circles" stencil.  A few sequins finished it off!

I'm also linking my card up to the current STAMPlorations January CAS Card Challenge -- where the optional color twist is silver or gray -- and to the Never-Ending Anything Goes Challenge.  I used silver glitter paper and gray (and blue) distress inks on my stenciling.

Be sure to link up your CUT card by noon on Monday (Central time).  Check out the Design Team and Guest Designer blogs for more inspiration!

Cards from the Heart Card Drive - My Day of Service

Hello, friends!  I am off today, as are three of my four kids, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day here in the United States.  My youngest son had a half day of school, but mainly in order to do various service projects.  He brought in multiple loaves of bread and made sandwiches for a local food kitchen with his classmates.

It is a common theme around here to participate in a "Martin Luther King, Jr Day of Service."  I used my day off from work to make 18 Valentine's Day cards for the Cards from the Heart Card Drive!  I could not think of a better way today to "stick with love" than to make Valentine's Day cards for children in hospitals across the country. This was the perfect day to do them since they are due to Winter Sims by the end of the month.  To date, I have made twenty-two cards for the drive.

I don't want this post to be too picture heavy, so I'll share cards grouped by stamp company.  If you have any questions about any supplies I used, please let me know! (Keep in mind you can't use glitter or embellishments because they pose as a choking hazard, so the cards are pretty simple.)

These three cards use images from Simon Says Stamp.

I used this stamp, also from Simon Says Stamp, on the back of all my cards.

Anyone remember this old set from Sweet Stamp Shop? Perfect for Valentines!

How about these old favorites from Paper Smooches?

These use Lawn Fawn, an old woodblock stamp, and Mama Elephant.

The rest of my cards use various stamps from Gerda Steiner Designs.
These little critters are perfect for boys and girls alike!

I mixed lots of sentiment stamps from companies including Hero Arts, Winnie & Walter, and Simon Says Stamp -- on the covers as well as the insides of all of my cards.  I also wrote a little note inside each Valentine in the hopes of bringing some cheer to the recipients.  I could never have done this project without the help of my Mini Misti...just sayin'!

Thanks for sticking with me through a long post...and thanks for stopping by today!

CASology #231: FOREST

Hello, friends!  It's Tuesday, which means its time for our next cue card at  CASology!

This week we are once again sponsored by Rubber Dance Stamps, and Bibi generously sent some of the design team members some stamps to use for the challenge.  I had lots of fun creating my card using the "Pines Fir Yew" and "Beautiful Words" sets.  The pine branches remind me of a forest scene!

I stamped the pine branches and pine cones in the top corner of my card using various distress inks, then added the sentiment in the bottom corner so that there would be plenty of white space.  I added three score lines down the side for balance.  As a final touch, I added some gold Stickles near the pine cones.

So, what does FOREST bring to mind for you?  (Anyone thinking, "Run, Forrest, Run!" or is it just me?)   Be sure to link up your clean and simple card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the many ways our Design Team and Guest Designer interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check out their blogs, too!

While you're at it, be sure to wish my teammie Jacquie Southas a very Happy Birthday today!!  (Best wishes for a very happy birthday, Jacquie!)

Bunny Love: Cards from the Heart Card Drive

Hello, friends!  I'm here today to share some Valentine's Day cards I made to send in for the Cards from the Heart Card Drive.  Winter Sims is doing this for the eighth year in a row and I can't think of a more worthy endeavor.  The cards she receives are delivered to children in a variety of children's hospitals for Valentine's Day in an effort to spread some love and cheer!

I couldn't resist this adorable freebie offered by Faith at From the Heart Digital Stamps called "Bunny Love."  I printed it out four times and made four different cards. Some simple Copic marker coloring and some die cut framing made these cards quick and easy to make!

I do hope to make more Valentine's Day cards for this cause and I hope you will consider doing so, too.  There are lots of sponsors and lots of prizes for participating. All the details are available at Winter's blog, Winter Wonderland.  There are some restrictions, so be sure to read them...I especially noted (1) no glitter, (2) no choking hazards, and (3) no bigger than 4.25 x 5.5 with no envelopes required (she uses clear envelopes).  Be sure to check out all of the details if you are going to participate...cards are due by the end of January!

Have a great day,
Judy

CASology #230: COLD

Hello, friends!  Welcome back as the new year begins with a new cue at CASology!  I'm so excited that I am beginning my sixth year as a Design Team member for CASology...I started back in January, 2012!  I can't believe how fast the time has flown.

As the new year begins, we bid farewell to two of the original CASology design team members, Ardyth and Tracey.  Best wishes to you both as you continue on in your crafty endeavors!  We also welcome two new design team members, Janet and Rachel. Welcome to the team, ladies! We are so excited to have you join the team!

I know some parts of the world are warm and sunny right now, but where I live on the east coast of the United States, it is COLD!

This week we are sponsored by Rubber Dance Stamps and I was lucky enough to receive some stamps to play with for this challenge!  I used stamps from the "Frosty Friends" and "Winter Wonderland" sets. I love the vintage feel of this snowman image!

I colored in the snowman with pastel colored pencils, and added some ultra fine glitter to the sentiment as well as the snow.  The soft pink and blue sky was sponged on with distress inks after masking the embossed frame border.  It gives the card dimension while it remains only one layer!

Be sure to link up your COLD card by noon on Monday (Central time).  Be sure to visit the Design Team members, say hello to our newest members Janet and Rachel, and visit our Guest Designer for lots of inspiration!
