CASology #186: DISTRESS

Hello, friends!  I'm back today with our next cue card at CASology.  Trust me, there are lots of ways to interpret this one!

I had two inspiring thoughts when I made my card.

My first thought went immediately to the Tim Holtz distress inks that I love to use to create masked backgrounds.  (A few spritzes of water always add a little interest, too!)

I also thought about an early morning incident that occurred a few days ago between my neighbor's dog and a skunk...that poor dog was definitely in distress!  Although I didn't see exactly what happened, I sure heard that poor dog barking frantically and I could smell the results when I went out to take the kids to school.  Phew!

Since our sponsor this week is Lawn Fawn, I played with a cute set that was included in a recent order.

I can't wait to see how you interpret DISTRESS in your clean and simple card creations!  Be sure to link up your card by noon on Monday (Central time). While you're at it, check out the blogs of our guest designer and design team for more inspiration!

CASology #185: EGG

Hello, friends!  After a beautiful week of Valentines, we are back with our next CASology cue card!

I guess we can now switch our attention to all things spring...birds nests and Easter eggs and new life!  There are lots of ways to go with this cue.  I wound up making an entire set of cards that I will likely send to my nieces and nephews for Easter this year.

For my cards, I used coordinating patterned papers and a large egg die ("Ribbon and Bow Egg" by Poppystamps).  I embossed the card borders (embossing folder by Stampin' Up!) to frame the main image, and I'll add the sentiments inside.  This way, these gorgeous patterned eggs can take center stage on the card fronts!

Here they are all together:

I added Wink of Stella on all the bows for some sparkle, and I sanded the dry embossed card edges since the card stock had a white core.

Hint: When you are paper-piecing an intricate die cut such as this egg, it helps to turn the die over and place the individual pieces back in the die, then tape them in place before taking it out to adhere on your card.

Here are my cards one by one:

I can't wait to see what EGG brings to mind for you!  Be sure to link up your EGG card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the many ways our Design Team and Guest Designer interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check out their blogs, too!

CASology #184: VALENTINE

Hello!  I'm stopping in today with our next CASology cue card...love is in the air, my friends!

I masked and inked the right side of my card using various shades of distress ink, then spritzed with water for a marbled effect.  The poppy die cut was glued down directly onto the card front, and the pink die cut bow adds some more interest.

Supplies:
My Sentiments Exactly "Valentine's Day"
Memory Box "Prim Poppy" die
Reverse Confetti "Finished Frames Elle-ments"
Tim Holtz Distress Inks: Spun Sugar and Victorian Velvet
DCWV pink glitter paper
Water spritzer

Be sure to link up your VALENTINE card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the many ways our Design Team and Guest Designer interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check out their blogs, too!

Gerda Steiner Designs - Monthly Challenge February 2016

Hello, friends!  I am stopping by today to share a one-layer Valentine's Day card I made for my neice and nephews.  I'm entering this card in the current monthly challenge at Gerda Steiner Designs - February 2016 Challenge.  This bunny jumping rope is so cute!

(If you play along at the monthly challenge, Gerda sends you the image for the following month's challenge for free!  Isn't that great?)

For my card, I printed three bunnies next to each other, adjusting the size of each one in order to reflect the ages of my niece and nephews.

I added the computer-generated sentiment using a "Hoppy" (instead of "happy") since the bunnies are jumping rope...and, of course, because bunnies hop!

I masked each bunny in order to add the light blue distress ink to the background sky.  I drew the grass with Copic markers and added some shading with distress ink.  The washi tape across the bottom of the card serves to ground the images.

Be sure to check out this month-long challenge -- there is sure to be a lot of inspiration in the pool!

Thanks for stopping by!

CASology #183: GLITTER

Hello, friends!  We are back this week with our new cue card at  CASology.  I'm really excited about this cue...I can't wait to see all the sparkly clean and simple goodness you'll be creating!

I immediately thought of all the pretty glitter papers I have in my stash, and all the pretty dies that would work so well with them.

For my card, I die cut a delicate Simon Says Stamp butterfly using gold glitter paper, then dry embossed an Anna Griffin border and stamped an elegant sentiment by Jane's Doodles beneath it.  The embossed strip was also mounted on matching glitter paper to frame it and add more color.

Be sure to link up your clean and simple GLITTER card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by our Design Team and Guest Designer this week...be sure to check out their blogs, too!
