CASology #166: SCIENCE

Hello, friends!  It's time for our next CASology cue card!

This cue really had me thinking.  There are so many "branches" of science, if you will. Life science, physical science, social science, earth and space science. Biology. Chemistry. Physics. Astronomy. Astrology. Psychology. Sociology.  If only I had a cute "mad scientist" stamp or some fun beakers...they could make some fun cards!

But, alas, I don't.

Then it hit me.  My sister-in-law is participating in the Susan G. Komen 2015 Philadelphia 3-Day walk for breast cancer this coming weekend.  She is fundraising for her good friend who is battling breast cancer.  What better use of science than medical research aimed at curing diseases such as cancer?

My card is for my sister-in-law to wish her well and to let her know that I am with her and her friend in spirit this weekend.

 Supplies:
Hero Arts "With Hope"
Lifestyle Crafts embossing folder
Lil' Inkers Stitched Rectangles dies
pink/white ribbon, pink gem

Be sure to link up your SCIENCE card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the many ways our Design Team and Guest Designer interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check out their blogs, too!

Muse Challenge #134: Thanks

Hello, friends!  It's a very exciting day in my neck of the woods as Pope Francis will be arriving in Philadelphia (from New York) today for the World Meeting of Families.  My daughter has been there since 6AM and was already on the local news!  I was able to go see Pope John Paul II when he came to our area on the late 1970's, so I find it particularly wonderful that my daughter can see the current Pope.  It is something I will never forget, and I hope she remembers this throughout her lifetime, too.  It is a very exciting, historical event and we have the news on nonstop to watch coverage of the event this weekend.

This is a sign I have seen every day for several weeks as I drive to work...hard to believe it is finally here!   (The sign also noted that the Ben Franklin Bridge would be closed all weekend...this road leads to the bridge into Philadelphia).  Don't worry, I did not take the picture while driving, I had my son take it from the passenger seat!

Due to all the excitement this weekend, I will likely not be doing a whole lot of blogging.  However, I had to stop by with a card I made for the current Muse Challenge #134 with this lovely inspiration from Anita Bowden.  Isn't this just perfection?

My card was inspired by Anita's colors and layout...I used soft pastel pink, blue and green paired with a black die cut sentiment over die cut "threads."  Instead of circles in the background, I used lines.

I always love a flat card that is easy to mail!

Supplies Used:
Simon Says Stamp "Thanks" die
MFT "LJD Circle Scribble Flowers" die
DCWV glitter papers

OK, off to watch Papal events as they unfold!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

CASology #165: CIRCLES

Hello, friends!   It's that time again...time for the new cue card at CASology!

This cue is SO appropriate for me right about now...I feel like I am running in CIRCLES all day every day!  For example, yesterday I drove round trip to my kids' high school three times in one day.  Yes, I am quite used to running in circles on a daily basis.

For my card, however, I immediately thought of my MFT "LJD Circle Scribble Flowers" stamps and dies!  (I have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to this stamp/die set - and stamps similar to it - if you are interested in checking it out, you can find it here.)  I die cut the flowers and leaves onto patterned paper, then stamped the images in black.  The card base is embossed with a beautiful Anna Griffin embossing folder (thanks for enabling me, Michele...I had to buy it when I saw yours!).  The sentiment is computer generated, and the red metallic gems are from Hero Arts.

Be sure to link up your CIRCLE card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the many ways our Design Team and Guest Designer interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check out their blogs, too!

Gerda Steiner Designs: Boo!

Hello, friends!  It has been a crazy week as my mom had a heart valve replacement (TAVR) procedure earlier this week and I have been with her during and after her hospital stay.  All went great and she is feeling good, so that is awesome!  I had a spare minute at home today, in between loads of laundry and driving the kids around, so I treated myself to a little bit of crafting time.

I came across this digital stamp at Gerda Steiner Designs and she is having a sale, offering some images for free!  I could't resist, they are all so adorable.

I had to make a few more Halloween cards for my stash, and I kept this one clean and simple...a very easy card!

I outlined this cute ghost with Copic markers and added some Glossy Accents to his eyes for fun.  I masked the edges and used some distress inks for shading, then mounted it straight onto a purple card.  Easy to mail and fun for a little one to receive!

Be sure to check out Gerda Steiner's "Share Your Work" page...that's where this card is headed!  She is offering a weekly chance to win a $15 coupon to her store...there are still a few days left in September to play along, and there are many free digi images in her store along with some very adorable images for sale.  Be sure to check it all out! Her blog can be found HERE.

Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!

CASology #164: UMBRELLA

Hello, friends!   Thanks for stopping by as we introduce the new cue card at CASology this week!

After a pretty dry summer, we've had some rain this week and my lawn is happy to have it!  I just bought a few new umbrellas for my kids since they now walk home from school, rain or shine.  This cue came at the perfect time!

I used this (retired) sweet set from Jane's Doodles and made a get well card with a few sequins for the rain.

Supplies Used:
Jane's Doodles "Big Sentiments" and "Raindrops"
Simon Says Stamp inks: Mint Candy, Coral Reef, Sea Glass

I'm going to link this up to Darnell's NBUS Challenge #5 since I have never before used these stamps.  Thanks for the motivation to use some "never before used stuff," Darnell!

Be sure to link up your UMBRELLA card by noon on Monday (Central time). While you are at it, check out the super creations by our Design Team and Guest Designer this week!

CASology #163: MOON

Hello, friends!   Thanks to all who played along with last week's cue card at CASology...you made it very hard for me to pick a winner!  You are all doing a super job keeping your designs clean and simple, and I know some of you comment that it is very hard to do at times!  Well done and thanks so much for playing along with us.

Speaking of playing along, it's time for our next CASology cue card!

Here on the East Coast of the U.S., late summer (or "Indian Summer" as we call it) has brought with it cooler mornings, leaves changing colors and falling, late summer plants blooming and mid-summer plants dying.  I love the change of seasons!  When I think of fall, I also think of big, bright full moons.  "Harvest moon."  My daughter has a telescope and we love to take it out on cool evenings to look at all the details of the full moon...so amazing.

And here is my first Halloween card of the season.  (My little nieces and nephews love getting Halloween cards in the mail!)  I masked the stamped moon and sprayed it with gold Perfect Pearls mist for some added interest.  I love the shine!

Supplies Used:
Hero Arts "Scroll Tree" and sentiment
Inkadinkado rough circle stamp
Hero Arts Poppy chalk ink
"Heirloom Gold" Perfect Pearls mist
Reverse Confetti border die

So, what does the cue card MOON bring to mind?  (No, not THAT "moon," unless you have that kind of sense of humor...yes, I admit that several of the DT members thought the same thing but we didn't have the right stamps for the occasion).

Be sure to link up your card by noon on Monday (Central time). Check out the Design Team and Guest Designer blogs for more inspiration, too!

CASology #162: WRITE

Hello, friends!  I'm happy to be back today with our next cue card for CASology...perfect timing for all those going back to school!

This week my four kids return to school and I return to work after a wonderful summer off.  We are always sorry to see it end, mainly because we like sleeping later, taking vacations, and generally going at a slower pace than we do during the very busy school year.  I'm disappointed that I didn't finish all the projects on my to-do list, but I have noticed a pattern -- I never finish what is on that list -- and I have concluded I put too many things on the list in the first place.  I need to stop doing that -- then maybe one of these days I'll feel a sense of accomplishment when summer ends!  :)

The cue card this week represents something we will all be doing more of now that school has resumed...we have all sharpened our #2 pencils and are ready to go!

That's what inspired my card, using the new "School Days" stamp set from Precious Remembrance Shop.  I thought the background embossed with apples was fitting for a school-themed card!

I used a Sakura jelly roll glitter pen to add some highlights to the letters and numbers...adds a bit of dimension to an otherwise flat design, doesn't it?

I am planning on sending cards to my nieces and nephews as they begin some major school milestones this month -- two are going off to kindergarten, and three are going off to college!  (I have seventeen nieces and nephews,  so there are lots of "card occasions" in our family!)

Be sure to link up your WRITE card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the many ways our Design Team and Guest Designer interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check them out!
