CASology #110: LETTER

Hello, friends!  After a wonderful week of JAVA, it is now time for a new cue card at CASology!

This week we are sponsored by Add a Little Dazzle; be sure to visit the CASology blog for all the details.  They have a very cool assortment of metallic papers that are perfect for die cutting and embossing...check them out!

When I saw the cue card, I thought of monograms.  I quickly decided to make a set of clean and simple monogram cards for my younger daughter because (like her mom) she LOVES things with her name or initials on them!  Here is the set, all using a Studio G stamp of her initial:

The first two cards are probably the "cleanest" and "simplest" because they are one layer cards with no embellishments; they both feature dry embossed frames and heat embossed stamping (one in gold, one in white).

I also made two clean cards with minimal layers; I dry embossed both card bases and die cut the monograms.  I also used a Sakura glitter gel pen to add some sparkle around the die cut edges.

(Contact me if you want to know any of the specific supplies used for these cards!)

So?  What do you think of when you hear the cue LETTER?  I can't wait to see!  Be sure to link up your card by noon on Monday (Central time). You are sure to be inspired by the many ways our Design Team and our super amazing Guest Designer interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check out their blogs, too!

CASology #109: JAVA

Hello, friends!  After a magical week at CASology, we are back with our newest cue...I do believe it is one of my favorite indulgences in life.

This week we are sponsored by Precious Remembrance Shop, another favorite in my life!  Be sure to check out the CASology blog for all the details.  They have a new stamp release scheduled for August 20th, so be sure to check it out!

Before I go on, I would be remiss if I did not mention that TODAY is a very special lady's birthday...none other than the creator of CASology, the super talented Melissa Chipperfield!  Best wishes for a very happy birthday, Melissa, and many, many more!

Java.  A fun name for coffee.  Ah, good stuff.  A necessity in my life at this point.  Once in the morning.  Once again around 3PM so I can make it through the second half of the day.  Even the smell makes me happy.  So, it makes total sense that I fell in love with the set from Precious Remembrance Shop called Coffee Love.  This is the first time I played with the small cups in the set.  I masked them so the colors wouldn't overlap.  I absolutely adore that sentiment (from the same set).  I thought it would be appropriate to use a "Latte" Hero Arts note card for my card base and latte chalk ink for my sentiment and stitching.

I can't wait to see what JAVA brings to mind for you!  (I have a feeling my Pinterest board dedicated to "coffee cards" is going to get a lot of action this week!)  Be sure to link up your card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the many ways our Design Team and super Guest Designer interpreted the cue this week...be sure to visit them!

Fun Freebie from Jane's Doodles

Hello, friends!  I am stopping by today with two cards I made using a fun summertime freebie from Jane's Doodles Free Digi + Challenge.  Jane is a super talented illustrator and she often shares free digi images at her blog (along the sidebar).  I have every one of them and I couldn't wait to join in the fun contest she has running while she is on vacation!

I printed this cute image in various sizes on one piece of white card stock, but I wound up using the smaller scale versions so I could die cut them to pop up on a card.  (I can also see paper-piecing this digi in larger scale, but that will be for another day!)

I made two cards using different color card bases and different sentiments, both from the Jane's Doodles "Big Sentiments" set.  I added color in the background using distress inks, while I colored the main images with Copic markers.

Be sure to visit Jane's blog, Jane's Doodles, to download this free digi and maybe even play along...you can even win three JD stamps of your choice!

Thanks for stopping by...I do appreciate your visits!

CASology #108: MAGIC

Hello, friends!  Tuesday has arrived with a wonderful new cue card at CASology!

This week we are sponsored by STAMPlorations; be sure to check out the CASology blog for all the details!  Not only will this week's winner get to choose a certain stamp set, but all participants are eligible for a 10% discount in the shop until August 19th.  How sweet!

So, I had an idea as soon as I saw the cue this week.  Here is a little clue regarding the inspiration for my card...a little story and accompanying song...can you guess what it is?

"There must have been some magic in that old silk hat they found,
for when they placed it on his head he began to dance around..."

Yes, it's Frosty the Snowman!  The magic hat brought him to life!  (Wouldn't that be so cool?!)

I printed this digital image (a sweet freebie by Torico at her former "Birdie Brown" blog) paired with a free digi sentiment by Hannelie.  Do you know why I used a "happy birthday" sentiment?  Every time they put the magic hat on Frosty, he comes to life and exclaims, "HAP-py BIRTH-day!"  I hope that the child who gets this birthday card understands the reference!  :)

I kept this card on the clean and simple side by adding minimal colors to what could be considered a "busy" image.  I wanted to focus on the snowman's hat...so that's where I focused attention with color and sparkle.

See how magical that Wink of Stella makes the magic hat look?

So, off you go!  Make something magical!

Be sure to link up your MAGIC card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the many ways our Design Team and Guest Designers interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check out their blogs, too!

CASology #107: STRIPE

Hello, friends!  WOW, what a beautiful array of rainbows we had last week at CASology!  It made me happy to see such pretty, colorful cards and so beautifully clean and simple!  Well done to all who participated!

And now, I present the next cue card!

When I saw the cue, I thought of candy and clothes and animal prints...but when I came across this striped patterned paper in my stash I knew just where to go with it!

Once I had die cut the sentiment, I had to play with the negative die cut...so I made two cards for the price of one!  Love that!

Stamping Supplies:
Papertrey Ink "Merry" die
Cuttlebug "Rebecca" embossing folder
Hero Arts sentiment from "Miracle of the Holiday"
Patterned paper from My Mind's Eye Lime Twist "Life of the Party" 6x6 paper pad
White glitter strips from American Crafts

So, what does it mean to you?  Be sure to link up your STRIPE card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the many ways our Design Team and Guest Designers interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check out their blogs, too!
