First challenge -- the current CAS-ual Fridays Challenge 65 to make a clean and simple square shaped card.
Second challenge -- the current Play Date Cafe Challenge #144 to use the colors Pink Carnation, Orange Sherbet and Lemonade.
Finally, I used all Hero Arts stamps and made a clean and simple card, which fits the Hero Arts Monthly Challenge for August.
To start, I cut down a standard white card to a 4" square. I inked up the older Hero Arts Shadow Stamp "Large Background" using Wild Honey (for yellow) and Spiced Marmalade (for orange) distress inks. Before stamping, I spritzed generously with water. After stamping the background I set it with my heat gun, then masked it with post-its. I then inked up a section of my Hero Arts Silhouette Grass with Punch chalk ink and stamped.
After removing the masks I was left with this...I wish the pink was a little "pinker," but it is what it is...
Finally, I stamped the sentiment from the Hero Arts All Occasion Messages set using Punch chalk ink and die cut it using a Spellbinders label die. (The yellow and orange together made me think warm, which is how I chose the sentiment!) While still in the die, I sponge inked the edges using Wild Honey distress ink again, then mounted it on the card with pop dots.
I can't believe that the closing ceremonies of the Summer Olympics are today...what am I going to watch on TV at night now?
Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!

Way to use the masking, Judy! Beautiful composition and stamping! I love the rich and striking colors! And the pink stands out just fine as it is! So glad that you can play with us at CAS-ual Fridays! Enjoy the rest of summer!
ReplyDeleteSuch fun techniques, Judy! Love the way this turned out! The sentiment is perfect with these warm colors!
ReplyDeleteThis is a winner, Judy - love it!
ReplyDeleteI love how you used this beauty for THREE challenges! Wonderful masking and I just love the colors!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous color, Judy. This is beautiful. I love the banner sentiment, too. Ann
ReplyDeleteYou created a beautiful card with so much detail. The masking really made a striking picture. I love the banner and how you used pink for the sentiment against the warm orange of the grass and background.
ReplyDeleteBy the way,Target keep the masking tape with the brightly colored magnets, paper clips, desk supplies, etc. It is just where the greens, yellows, reds, and blue supplies are organized I think there are 3 or 4 rolls in each pack --same colors, just different patterns. I asked a clerk for Washi tape who was unfamiliar with the term. Hope this helps you.
That helps a whole bunch...thank you!
DeleteI'm watching the closing ceremony as I type this wondering the same thing:). I love the masking you did and the sentiment banner! And of course ou know how much I love that silhouette grass stamp:)
