Anyway, I came across this set of stamps by Sandylion. I associate this company with stickers, but I was drawn to these sweet images...aren't they perfect for paper piecing? So much open space in each image!
So, I decided that I would play with my new toy today. I took out my bag of patterned paper scraps and began stamping my heart out. Then I cut out everything I stamped and went around the edge of each image with a black marker. (I like to have pre-cut images available for those times when I need to make a quick card...do you ever do that?) Here is what I wound up with after all my stamping and cutting:
Aren't they fun? I put most of them aside for another day, but I did play with the sweet little ducks. I used my Hero Arts stamps to add the sentiment, the clouds, and some of the designs on the ducks. I found some "water" patterned paper in my stash and cut it into a wavy pattern by hand. I added black glossy accents to the ducks' eyes and rounded the bottom corners. Here is the really quick card I put together:
What a great feeling it is to find a really good bargain AND use up some of my scraps of paper!
I hope you are having a good day...I know I am! I'm off to check out a few blog hops that are going on (check out my sidebar for direct links).
Thanks for stopping by...I do appreciate it!

Love your FINDINGS, Judy!! I adore adore those lovely red stickers, especially when the $ is so much less than the original price! Your Sandyloin stamps are SO cute! I didn't know that they make stamps, either! I must look out for that in my Michael's! Love your cute paper-pieced animals! Thanks for enabling :)
ReplyDeleteLove the good deals! It really is so exciting when you find a great crafty deal! :> I never knew about the black marker! Such a cute card, I love those ducks!
ReplyDeleteI've had this stamp set for years and never used it. I'm not very good at the cutesy images, so thanks for the inspiration, Judy! Your card is darling! My favorite of the set is that sweet mouse!
ReplyDeleteThese are so sweet Judy and what a brilliant crafty find in the sale...I would visit the states just to go to a Michael's store :)
ReplyDeletelove the card you made with the duckies.

I found that stamp set too in the clearance bin! It's so adorable! There's a "boy" set as well. I tried paper piecing the sheep, but it didn't come out as nice probably because my pattern was too loud (I just paper pieced the wool). I'll have to do what you did and try softer patterns for these images. Thanks for the inspiration!
