CASology #189: DOODLE

(Click HERE for my give-away post!)

Hello, friends!  It's time to get out your drawing utensils for our next CASology cue card!

I know lots of kids who like to doodle in their notebooks at school.  (I also know lots of adults who doodle on their papers during meetings at work!)

I, being a neat freak, would never dream of doing something like that! You will not find any doodles in my notebooks.  Don't get me wrong, I like to draw and I always have enjoyed drawing. However, doodling is not orderly.  Hence, my issue with it.

Our sponsor this week at CASology is STAMPlorations, and I thought of this cool doodle-style image they shared at some point as a free digital image called "coffee and books."  I love how the books look like someone drew them, and one very well may have doodled IN them, too.  (Just not ME.)

The sentiment is computer generated, and the whole card was printed, colored, and cut down to a 5x5 card.  I added Glossy Accents to the mug for some shine.  I masked the books and added some Antique Linen distress ink shading for depth.

So, what does DOODLE bring to mind for you?  Be sure to link up your card by Monday. Check out the clever cards shared by our Design Team and Guest Designer for more inspiration!

Guest Designer: Rachel

Our Sponsor This Week:  STAMPlorations

I can't let today go by without wishing my best girlfriend in the world, Andrea, a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  Andrea introduced me to the world of stamping when she sent me a hand-made Christmas card on which she had embossed a pair of mittens back in the 1990's, and I was intrigued.  She suggested I buy a book on stamping, which I did, and the rest is history!  Happy Birthday, Andrea!  (This card is for you!)

Thanks for visiting,
Judy

  1. I am not a doodler either, Judy ... it's rare that I even have a pen/pencil in my hand anymore, actually! Except to sign a card, of course! You may have me stumped this week - but I LOve your doodled book design... great quote, too...

  3. Judy laughing out loud with you about doodling not being orderly! I doodle in my notebook and then I rewrite any notes on the page onto a fresh page and so I don't have to look at the doodles-lol Your image is super sweet and I love the way you coloured it!

  4. Sooo funny! I used to doodle all the time as a kid in school AND in boring meetings at work ;-)
Now that we have these fabulous stamp designs, someone else can do the doodling for us.

  5. Very cool card, Judy! Lovely coloring! So tickled to see you use the image I once offered on the STAMPlorations blog. And yes, I drew the cup and books -- I just cleaned the image up a little after it was scanned, but made sure it still has the hand-drawn/doodled look ;o)

  7. Hey Judy!! I learned something about you today. I love to doodle but I'm terrible at it, LOL!! I love the stamp set you choose. It does look like it was neatly doodle, everthing and line in its place. Nice.

  12. I must admit to have doodled my way through boring meetings and maths classes... You are so right though - not a neat affair! I am so jealous that your printers is able to print your digi image directly to cardstock. My printer can't handle anything with a weighty gsm apart from photo paper. What's that about?? (Get what you pay for on the printer front...!) I really love this image and sentiment. The colouring feels so right - those colours remind me of those used on canvas covered books of old - adore them! That glossy ceramic mug makes me smile too. Truly love this, Judy!

  13. Hello Judy: I'm really not a doodler, I don't think I've doodled at all either in school or at home but, I love to do it now, it's relaxing and fun.
Your card is lovely, this image does have the hand drawn look, really beautiful.
    Thank you for sharing.
