CASology #93: ELECTRIC

Hello, friends!  It's time to step out of the garden at CASology and into something a little more exciting this week!

This week we are sponsored by Stamps & Scrapbooks ...be sure to check out the CASology blog for all the details!

When I think electric, many things come to mind...electric guitar, inventions made better with electricity (e.g., light bulb, sewing machine), the Electric Slide (yes, I was a teen in the 80's).  Then it HIT me...a lightening bolt!  I broke out my retired "Super Mom" Sweet Stamp Shop set and paired it with a smaller sentiment from Hero Arts, and BAM!

I kept this card CAS by using one main image, minimal layers, and no embellishments.  The popped up sign can stand on it's own without the need for lots of other "stuff" and it definitely conveys meaning.

So, what does ELECTRIC bring to mind for you?  Be sure to link up your card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the many ways our Design Team and Guest Designer interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check out their blogs, too!

Thank You from Anita in France

Hello, friends!  No card from me today...but I do have a card to share that I received from Anita in France (My Papercraft World).  She sent me this lovely beauty as a thank you for the birthday card I sent her as part of her birthday blog celebration.  I wish you could see the texture of the card stock in person...it is gorgeous!

Thanks again, Anita...I will treasure this card always!
Have a great day,

CASology #92: GARDEN

Hello, friends!  We all know what Tuesday means...it's time for a new cue at CASology!

This week we are sponsored by Stamps and Scrapbooks ...be sure to check out the CASology blog for all the details!

When I think of gardens and flowers, I always think of butterflies.  Ever since I was a little girl, I loved gardening (and I still do!).  I vividly remember seeing lots of little white butterflies around me while I dug and planted.  I can remember even talking to them, thanking them for keeping me company!  (I know that may seem strange, but at the time it seemed only natural!)  So, for my card this week, I went with a Simon Say Stamp butterfly die along with some new stamps from the Precious Remembrance Shop and some background embossing for texture.

What makes this card CAS?  I used one main image, left lots of white space, and used minimal embellishments.  No layers, no "business."

I can't wait to visit your GARDEN cards this week!  Be sure to link up your card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the many ways our Design Team interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check out their blogs, too!

CASology #90: WET

Hello, friends!  After a great week of JOKE inspiration, we are ready for a new cue word at CASology! This week we are sponsored by STAMPlorations...be sure to check out the CASology blog for all the details!

My first thoughts went to the adage, "April showers bring May flowers."  I tried a few things with this in mind but wasn't happy with any of the results.  Moving on...

Next thought?  "Wet your whistle."  What do I like to wet my whistle with every day (multiple times)?  My COFFEE!  I immediately thought of THIS awesome coffee set from Precious Remembrance Shop, along with the splatters and rings from THIS set.  I paper-pieced the coffee cup and fussy cut it, popping it up for some dimension.  I think the embossed frame adds a nice touch while maintaining the white space around the main image.

I wish I could share a cup of coffee with one of my favorite CAS card-makers -- a frequent flyer at CASology and a blogger friend of mine who is celebrating a birthday today -- the amazing Shelly Kurth of Sweet Greetings.  Happy Birthday, Shelly!  Maybe someday we can actually meet and share a coffee!  (Until then, we can continue to communicate via social media!)

I can't wait to see what WET brings to mind for you this week!  Be sure to link up your Clean and Simple card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the many ways our Design Team and Guest Designer interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check out their blogs, too!

CASology #89: JOKE

Hello, friends!  It's April 1st, and today we like to celebrate a little tradition called "April Fool's Day."  Perfect for this week's cue!

I did a little research and found out that April Fool's Day is actually celebrated in many countries.  According to Wikipedia, April Fools' Day (alternatively April Fool's Day, sometimes All Fools' Day) is not a national holiday, but is widely recognized and celebrated in various countries as a day when people play practical jokes and hoaxes on each other (called April fools)

We love April Fool's Day in our house, and my darling husband derives great joy from playing tricks on our kids each year.  As they get older, the tricks are becoming more and more involved -- and they are tricking him right back!  We've done it all -- rubber snakes in shoes, frozen bowls of cereal, replacing sugar with salt, changing the time on alarm clocks, rubber banding the sink sprayer to the "on" position, then asking for a drink of water...and the list goes on!

Anyway, in the spirit of a good joke, I made this card using a $1 stamp set by Inkadinkado and a Hero Arts wood grain background stamp.  I will likely give this card to my niece who graduates from high school this year...she has a quirky sense of humor, just like her Aunt Judy!

I kept this card "clean and simple" by using one main image and setting it in the bottom corner of the card so that lots of empty "white" space remained.

So, what does JOKE bring to mind for you?  I can't wait to see!  Be sure to link up your card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the many ways our Design Team and Guest Designer interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check out their blogs, too!
