CASology #119: GHOST

Hello, friends!  I'm back with a new cue card from CASology this week!

We are sponsored by Add a Little Dazzle, so be sure to check out the CASology blog for more details.  The design team received a sample pack of metallic papers from Add a Little Dazzle a while back, so I definitely wanted to use them this week on my card.  The black metallic paper worked perfectly as a backdrop for my white ghost image...and for the sentiment, too!

Ghost image by Sweet Stamp Shop; Die cut letters by Hero Arts

If you turn the card just right you can see the shine of the metallic paper...cool, isn't it?

This is the last of my Halloween cards...and I made many!  We mail cards to all the little ones in the family and they do love to get mail!  This is the big week, Halloween will be here on Friday!  I'm a bit sad because my two oldest children will not be dressing up or trick-or-treating (they actually have to play in the pep band at a high school football game that evening!).  I know everyone always says it, but it is so true: they grow up so fast.  I still have the younger two dressing up, but they are going to a friends' house to trick-or-treat.  I think I'll be home alone for the first time in fifteen years on Halloween!  (I blinked my eyes and here we are.  Wow.)

So, go get your GHOST on and join in the fun this week at CASology!  Be sure to link up your card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the spooky ways our Design Team and awesome Guest Designer interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check out their blogs!

Hero Arts Holiday Challenge & Caring Hearts Card Drive 2014

Hello, friends!  I am so happy to be here today to share some cards I made for the Caring Hearts Card Drive 2014.  I am so glad to be able to participate again...I believe I have done so every year since it began in 2010, and I think it is a GREAT cause!  After all, don't we love to bring happiness and cheer to those who receive our hand-made cards?  That's what its all about in my book.

I have a handful of cards I have already shared in previous posts that I plan to send, and I was able to make a few more this weekend.

My cards today use some of my favorite Hero Arts Christmas images and sentiments.  I'm entering these two cards into the current Hero Arts Holiday Challenge in the "Anything Goes" category.

I inked up a scrolled embossing folder with mid-tone Tide Pool shadow ink to make the background paper.

I used a patterned paper that I also dry embossed with a floral pattern embossing folder for this background.

I hope you are able to send in some cards for the Caring Hearts Card Drive...it is such a good cause.  Be sure to check out the post at Jennifer McGuire's blog for details, mailing instructions, and PRIZES!  They need to receive our cards by November 28th, so don't delay if you are going to participate.

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day,
Judy

The Card Concept #21: Country & Sunflowers

Hello, friends!  I was so excited when I saw the current challenge at The Card Concept #21: Country & Sunflowers.  I love country and sunflowers!  Look at this lovely inspiration photo, with the beautiful black and white checks and the pops of yellow blooms!

I immediately thought of an old Personal Stamp Exchange (PSI) wood block stamp I have had for years, and inked it up.  I also pulled out my Impression Obsession gingham background stamp and a Hero Arts sentiment to pull it all together.  I was definitely inspired by the colors, patterns and content of the inspiration photo!

I believe the style of my card is "Clean and Layered" based on the clean lines, layers, ribbon embellishment, and open space.

I added some gold Stickles in the centers of the sunflowers for some shine and texture.  (You can see it when I tilt the card in the light.)

Have you ever grown sunflowers?  I have, and they were so wonderful!  I loved cutting them for inside display, but they were also a great attraction for butterflies, bumblebees and birds outside in the garden and I enjoyed watching all the action out there, too!

When our kids were little we would always take a day trip to a local farm for pumpkin and apple picking; one of my favorite parts of the day was the hay ride past an immense sunflower field.  I would take tons of pictures of the rows and rows of flowers, all facing and reaching for the sun.  They were so beautiful!  Yes, I do love sunflowers.

Thank you so much for stopping by...now I'm off to check out the other entries at The Card Concept this week!

Have a great day,
Judy

CASology #118: HOME

Hello, friends!  It's Tuesday, which means a new cue card at CASology!

I don't really have any sentiments that fit this cue card...not sure why that is, I guess I don't have the need to make too many welcome home/new home cards.  So, I decided to take a turn with this cue and continue on my Halloween card-making quest...and went with a "haunted house."

Hey, witches and ghosts and goblins need a home, too, right?

Ever since I was a child, I have been intrigued by the possibility of haunted houses.  Nothing thrills me more than seeing an old, broken down house set back on a hill with a creaking gate blowing in the wind and one light on in the attic late at night...what's going on up there?  Hmm...maybe a witch is stirring her bubbling cauldron of brew by candlelight?  Maybe a vampire is just waking up for an evening of "activity?"  Oh, the frightening possibilities!

Stamps by Hero Arts

I am entering this card in the current Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking October Gallery: Halloween.  If you like making Halloween cards, you should check out that gallery, it's full of inspiration!

So, what does HOME mean to you?  I can't wait to see!  Link up your card by noon on Monday (Central time).  Be sure to stop by the Design Team blogs -- and our amazing guest designer's blog -- for more inspiration!

PC&S October Gallery Challenge: Halloween

Hello, friends!  I'm stopping in today with two easy-peasy Halloween cards I made using some eyeball stickers (from Recollections) that have been hangin' out in my stash for some time now.

I am entering my cards in the Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking October Gallery Challenge...be sure to check it out for some serious Halloween inspiration!

This card uses a $1 Studio G sentiment embossed in white paired with the eyeball stickers.

This card features a Hero Arts sentiment embossed in white.  (Both black card bases were die cut with Lil' Inkers Stitched Rectangles.)  I love that these cards are flat and easy to mail!

Just a quick post today...thanks for stopping by!

CASology #117: CANDY

Hello, friends!  Welcome back to a new cue card at CASology!  With Halloween quickly approaching, I think this cue is quite fitting.

We are sponsored by STAMPlorations this week, so be sure to check out the CASology blog for all the details.

With Halloween quickly approaching, we have had a stash of candy corn in the house and it sure doesn't seem to last long!  My CANDY card was inspired by candy corn, and I happened to have a scrap of candy corn patterned paper in my stash that fit perfectly inside this Precious Remembrance Shop jar stamp.  Yay me!  The sentiment stamp is from a $1 Studio G set.

(Can I just note that I took this picture with my new iPhone 6 and I am so impressed!  I think it takes better pictures than my point-and-shoot camera!)

I'm also linking this up to Virginia's View Challenge #8 where the theme this month is "Clean and Simple."  I'm also adding it to the Cool Canning Jar Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  You should play along there, too, if you can!

I can't wait to see your sweet take on the cue this week!  Be sure to link up your card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the many yummy ways our Design Team and Guest Designer interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check out their blogs, too!

Keep It Simple/TIME OUT/SSS Halloween Card

Hello, friends!  I have been on a Halloween-card-making roll the last few days and I am stopping by with another card for three challenges:  Keep It Simple! #50 "Three" challenge, the new TIME OUT Challenge #16: "CASE Heather Telford With Your Own Twist," and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: "Falling in Love with Fall."

I used a leaf-patterned card that I have had sitting in my stash for so long...it felt good to finally use it!   My three pumpkins were colored with Copics.  The leaves also tie in with the beautiful card we are CASEing by Heather Telford...I could stare at her card for hours!  I love her "light source" behind the leaves, it conveys the feeling of standing under a beautiful tree in the fall looking up through the leaves to the sun.  Just gorgeous!

Stamps by Inkadinkado ("Autumn Foliage") and Studio G (sentiment)
Patterned card by DCWV; gold glitter tape by American Crafts

Be sure to check out the Keep It Simple challenge, the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, and the new TIME OUT challenge for lots of inspiration by their Design Teams and the entries in their pools...there are lots of beautiful cards out there!

Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate your visit!
Take care,
Judy

CASology #116: SPLATTER

Hello, friends!  After a delicious week of chocolate, we are moving on to our next cue card at CASology!

This week we are sponsored by the fun and perky Melon Door Lighthouse...be sure to check out their line of digital stamps and all the details at the CASology blog.

I found this cue card challenging.  I think I may have mentioned here before that "splatter" is not usually in my vocabulary...being a true Capricorn, I much prefer order, symmetry, and neatness.  With my slight OCD tendencies, if I see a splatter I am compelled to wipe it up immediately.

But, hey, this is a challenge, right?  So here it goes!  I decided I could use splatter if I kept it orderly.  :)  I tried to follow the "rule of threes" and kept my design elements clustered together for unity.  I actually made two cards while I had out all my goodies; all stamps are by Precious Remembrance Shop.

I'm going to enter this clean and simple card set into Virginia's View Challenge #8 since they are definitely clean and simple!

I can't wait to see what SPLATTER brings to mind for you.  Be sure to link up your card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by our Design Team and Guest Designer this week...be sure to check out their blogs, too!

Virginia's View Challenge #8: A Clean and Simple Thanks

Hello, friends!  It is unusual for me to have so many posts in such a short time frame...can you tell I played on World Card Making Day instead of getting bogged down with blogging and house work?  :)

Anyway, I'm here today with a clean and simple thank you card I made with the current Virginia's View Challenge #8: Clean and Simple in mind.

As my two sons are nearing the end of their fall soccer seasons, I will need a handful of thank you notes for their coaches.  Here is a clean and simple note I made for this purpose, using grass patterned paper for the strip as well as the die cut "thanks."  Quick and easy!  (As my daughter calls it, "Queasy!")

I appreciate your visit...be sure to check out the MANY clean and simple cards entered in the contest this month, they are sure to amaze!  (It can be found HERE.)

Another "Seeing Red" Catered Crop Card

Hello, friends!  I'm back with another card for the current Catered Crop "Seeing Red" Recipe Swap.

When in doubt wear red.
~ Bill Blass

My card today features another older Sweet Stamp Shop image...nothing says red to me like an old-time gumball machine!  The sentiment on red patterned paper is from Simon Says Stamp.  I love adding Glossy Accents to the gum balls to make them look dimensional!

Be sure to check out the inspiration at Catered Crop this week...so many wonderful RED entries and design team cards to admire!

The Card Concept - Happy Halloween

Hello, friends!  I'm happy to be playing along today with The Card Concept Challenge #20 - Colour Challenge...check out this beautiful fall color cue!

I think these colors just beg to be used on a Halloween card!  Lucky for me, I have lots of young nieces and nephews who love to get Halloween cards in the mail,  so I got busy.  This was my first creation of the day.

My card style is most in line with "Clean and Layered" since I used clean lines, several layers of designer papers, embellishments, and some colored images with lots of white space, too.

I hope to be back later today with a second card for this challenge...I'm loving these colors!

Be sure to check out the awesome cards at The Card Concept blog -- the Design Team knocked this one out of the park, and the pool is filling with inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by!

~ Bill Blass

My card mixes several reds (and pinks) together for a fun birthday card.  The stamps are from Sweet Stamp Shop (apple, sentiment) and Hero Arts (background stripes).

Another CASology Card: CHOCOLATE

Hello, friends!  I'm not surprised that I had the desire to make another CHOCOLATE-themed card for the current CASology challenge.  I have a feeling this week is going to see a LOT of entries!

My kids love chocolate ice cream, so this one is for them.  I inked up some Jane's Doodles stamps (from the "How Sweet" set), and embossed the chocolate brown card base with a Sizzix "Argyle" embossing folder to mimic the texture of an ice cream cone.

Have you played along with us at CASology yet this week?  I do hope you will join us for some CHOCOLATE fun!
