CAS(E) This Sketch & Hero Arts One Layer Challenge Combo!

Hello, friends!  Today I am stoping by with a card inspired by two challenges.
First up is the new Hero Arts One-Layer Challenge -- I do love one-layer cards, so I had to play along!

olc-banner

My one-layer card was inspired by the very fun sketch at the current CAS(E) This Sketch #82:

When I saw this sketch I immediately thought of my Hero Arts "Monster Party" digital stamp set.  I sized up a blank card (paper size 4.25" x 11" with minimal margins) on my computer, inserted the image and sentiment following the sketch layout, and printed.

Once printed, I colored in that cute little monster, stamped the Hero Arts speech bubble (from the "Write Your Message" clear set), masked the sentiment and monster and stamped some more Hero Arts goodness in the background using Soft Vanilla and Tide Pool inks.  I added white Enamel Accent dots all over the monster for a little texture.

Here is my finished one-layer card:

Of course, who can stop there?  I mean, after all, I have this cute little layout all set on the computer ready for mass producing!  So, I cut three different colors of card stock to card size and printed them.  However, I wanted to do some colorful paper-piecing for this set of monsters, so I copied the monster image from my card to another Word document set up at 6x6 (with minimal margins so they fit) and pinted multiple monsters on to two different patterned papers by American Crafts. Since I copied the monster from my original card, I am guaranteed that they are the same exact size!

After fussy-cutting the monsters I added them to the colored cards, embossed a frame and stamped some zig-zag backgrounds, added some funny eyes for interest, and voila, I have a great set of birthday cards!  I also have some extra little monsters for future cards as needed.  Love that!

As always, thanks for stopping by...I appreciate your visits!

Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes - Happy Birthday!

Hello, friends!  I am stopping by today with two cards I made for the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog "Anything Goes" challenge.  This week they are featuring products by American Crafts, and I used their "Hip Hip Hooray" 6x6 paper pad for both of my cards today.

I recently ordered the new release stamp set, "Oh So Fun," by Precious Remembrance Shop.  My stamps arrived the other day and I couldn't wait to start paper-piecing those jars!

And here they are together:

Supplies Used:
Stamps: All stamps by Precious Remembrance Shop
Papers: American Crafts "Hip Hip Hooray" 6x6 paper pad
Dies: "Stitched Rectangles" mat by Lil' Inkers, "Crisp Bows" by Memory Box

By the way, the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog is having a Design Team search if you are interested.  Check it out HERE for information.

CASology #101: WOOD

Hello, friends!  Wow, what a great week of celebrating we just had at CASology!  We appreciate all your lovely comments and, of course, your participation in the cue card challenges each week.  Now, onto CASology 101!

This week we are sponsored by Add a Little Dazzle, so be sure to check out the CASology blog for all the details.

When I saw the cue word this week, I thought of trees and the animals that live in nature.  That led me to combine a wood grain embossing folder with an adorable Birdie Brown freebie image I had in my stash.  The die cut sentiment (a Cuttlebug die) was cut in green to imitate grass.

I love adding Glossy Accents to sections of an image -- see the shiny red apples?

So, what clean and simple design will you be inspired to make this week in your neck of the woods?  Be sure to link up your card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the many ways our Design Team interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check out their blogs, too!

Thanks for visiting,
Judy

NBUS #1: Happy Graduation

Hello, friends!  I'm stopping by today with two more graduation cards I made (the first was seen HERE).  These cards will be going to my kids' friends who are all celebrating their recent graduation from 8th grade...many of these kids have been friends since 3-year-old preschool!

I am entering these in Darnell's NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) Challenge #1 since these cards feature a sentiment stamp that I am using for the first time ever.  I went from never using it to using it on three cards!  Woot! Woot!

I think Darnell's blog is a HOOT -- she is an amazingly entertaining writer and if you haven't ever visited her blog djkardkreations you MUST go NOW! (And then come back!)  I am thrilled that she is challenging us to use our never before used supplies because, heaven knows, we probably all have some in our stash!

Thanks for talking a peek...and thanks for stopping by!

Happy Graduation

Hello, friends!  Just stopping by to share a graduation card (and two more in the works).  No challenges involved...other than driving my two recent 8th grade graduates and their friends to a bazillion graduation parties each weekend!  (That IS a challenge, believe me!)

Yes, I am in need of some serious graduation cards...and I need to make them in BULK!

So, I inked up my Clearly Wordsworth "Happy Everything" stamp and went to town coloring with my small Copic collection.  Once colored, I layered onto some multi-colored patterned paper and added some stitch stamps down the side (from Precious Remembrance Shop).

You can see that I stamped the sentiment several times on scrap card stock because I know I'll need more.

Then it dawned on me...I could color the sentiment using the school colors of the graduates, so I went ahead and colored them using green and yellow (my kids' school colors are green and gold).

I also thought it would be fun to add some white enamel dots on the colored letters for interest.  Makes a big difference, doesn't it?

I definitely have to get cracking on some more graduation cards...hopefully this will be a good way to use up some of my patterned paper stash!

Thanks for stopping by!

CASology Anniversary Celebration and Giveaway!

Hello, friends!  I'm stopping by today to let you know that I am being featured over at CASology today, so go check it out!

I am so excited to be a part of the CASology Design Team because I get to help celebrate the 100th challenge this week!   I have a fun little card to share with you, showcasing my favorite go-to style: "clean and simple!"

I have never been a big fan of bulky cards with lots of layers.  I think the main reason for that is I mail most of my cards, and it is difficult (and more expensive) to mail bulky cards!  So, from the very start, I have always loved a flat card with minimal layers that I can easily stuff in an envelope with no fear of it getting damaged in the mail.

So, here is a clean and simple card to thank YOU!

Stamp by Precious Remembrance Shop, "thanks" die by Simon Says Stamp, inks by Hero Arts

As my way of thanking all of the wonderful CASology participants and followers, I have a little blog candy to give away!   I've included some goodies from some of my favorite stamp companies.  Just leave me a comment in the next 24 hours telling me your favorite stamping style and I'll draw a random winner on Saturday morning at 11:00AM.  Good luck!

I know I say it every week, but I really do appreciate your visits and your lovely comments...you are the best!

Have a great day!
Judy

CASology #99: ANNIVERSARY

Hello, friends!  Another Tuesday has rolled around and that means a new cue word!

This week we are sponsored by STAMPlorations...be sure to check out the CASology blog for all the details!

While CASology is nearing an anniversary soon (i.e., 100 cue words), my husband and I are also approaching our wedding anniversary of 19 years.  I am also celebrating my 400th blog post today...does that count as an anniversary of sorts?  (That may be a stretch, but I'm still happy about it!)

For my card, I inked up two sweet sets from Sweet Stamp Shop and snuck in the word "anniversary" from a Hero Arts sentiment set.  This card is going to my DH on our anniversary...we started dating at age 17 and I think we might have looked this young when we started dating all those years ago!  (I had a pony tail and everything!)

Here is the inside using a coordinating sentiment from Sweet Stamp Shop.

I kept this card "clean and simple" by using a monochromatic color scheme, minimal layers and embellishments, and one main image.  I love adding dry embossing to card bases, too -- I think it adds interest without distraction.

Now it's your turn!  Be sure to link up your ANNIVERSARY card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will no doubt be inspired by the many ways our Design Team interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check out their blogs, too!

CASology #98: SHINE

Hello, friends!  Last week "buzzed" by at CASology and now we are ready to take on a new cue.  Get out your sunglasses, friends!

In honor of my DH's birthday, I decided to make a shiny card for the kids to give him.  I kept it clean and simple by centering the die cut letters and simple sentiment...the simplicity of the layout supports the sentiment.

In our books, it is so true...he is simply the best.  Happy Birthday, Jack!  :)

The letters were die cut from a sheet of sticky-backed gold glitter foam.  See how sparkly (or dare I say SHINY) the glitter foam letters are when the light hits them?  Such fun...and no need for glue!

OK, peeps, it's your turn to SHINE!  Be sure to link up your card by noon on Monday (Central time). You will also be inspired by the many ways our Design Team and amazingly talented Guest Designer interpreted the cue this week...be sure to check out their blogs!
