CASology #196: MOVE

Hello, friends!  It's time to get moving at CASology this week!

Oh, boy, there are so many ways to go with this cue!  I immediately thought of the song "I Like to Move It, Move It" from the movie Madagascar.  Have you ever seen the movie?  The song is very catchy, makes you want to get up and move!  (You can see and hear it HERE if you are interested!)

In the end, I did not have a dancing lemur stamp, so I went in a different direction.

I have a colleague who just had a baby boy, and heaven knows that whole process involved a lot of movement!  I'm sure their good times are just getting started...and so my card for her and her little one.

I used a Papertrey Ink stamp set called "Baby Button Bits" and added a blue button with a floss knot bow for extra interest.

GSD Share Your Design Challenge #20 and Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #9

Hello, friends!  I am really having fun with this new stamp set by Gerda Steiner Designs and wanted to share another card for the current Share Your Designs Challenge!

I'm also playing along with the current Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #9 using the "birthday-sponging-white space" combination (the inside of the card says, "Happy Birthday, Human").

 

This time I made a one-layer card by doing lots of masking. Simple coloring with Copics, a few added white dots for fun...and done!

CASology #195: SPRINKLE

Hello, friends!  Happy Tuesday!  You know what that means...a new cue card at CASology!

I immediately thought of the sugary sprinkles found on cupcakes and donuts...which led to this card!

I  embossed the Hero Arts donut image with black embossing powder, fussy cut, and colored in with Copic markers.  I made the sentiment by combining two stamp sets -- the "YOU" is from Simon Says Stamp ("You" 3x4 stamp set) while the "Are So Sweet" is from the Avery Elle "Simply Said - You" stamp set.  The embossed frame is a Cuttlebug "Tiffany" folder.  The donut is popped up on foam for dimension.

I added some Wink of Stella to the icing for some extra sparkle in the sprinkles!

Art Impressions Challenge #182: Show Off Your Stamps

Hello, friends!  I'm back again today with two cards I made for the current Art Impressions Challenge #182: Show Off Your Stamps WEEK 2.

I could not resist buying the stamp set pictured here on the far right -- when I saw it was available at Michael's, I went straight away and luckily got the last one!

There are so many possibilities with this set!  I really love the sentiments...I do love a good pun and this set is full of them!

I made two cards with this fella...poor guy must be catching a bad draft! (Why do medical offices always seem so cold, anyway?)

Here are my cards closer up:

This one is colored with Copic markers and matted on Lawn Fawn polka dot paper.

This one is also colored with Copics, then framed using an inlaid die cut and the card base is stamped with a linen texture stamp.  I thought the patterned paper frame looked like the pattern on some hospital gowns.  ;)

GSD Share Your Designs #20 & Virginia's View Link Up Party

Hello, friends!  I am stopping by today with a fun card I made for two current challenges.

First up, the current 20th Share Your Design Challenge at Gerda Steiner Designs. This is a great place to share your cards using any of her stamps, and you have a chance to win a $15 coupon to her store.

Second, I was so excited to see that Virginia opened up a "linky party" at her Virginia's View Challenge.  She is asking us to link up one card using a hello/miss you/friendship message.

I could not wait to ink up my recently purchased stamp sets from Gerda Steiner Designs.  The recent blog hop for this release was out of this world -- no pun intended!  I ordered both "Blast Off" and "Alien Invasion" and combined images and sentiments from both sets for my card.

This card is going to my nephew who is in kindergarten.  He loves to get mail, and he has enjoyed some recent sleep-overs at our house.  I hear from his mom that he wants to come back for more...hopefully soon!  In the meantime, a card to let him know Aunt Judy is thinking of him and missing him.

I masked the main panel as well as the "moon," then stamped my images and masked them as well.  Next, I mixed a variety of distress inks to make the outer space sky. I spritzed the whole sky with Perfect Pearls mist for a silvery shine and stamped some stars in white dye ink.  Finally, I colored the stamped images with Copic markers and filled in the boy's mask with Glossy Accents.   

Depending on the light, the sky is either dark...

...or very shiny!

CASology #194: MOM

Hello, friends!  It's time for a new CASology cue!  Are you ready? Let's celebrate those wonderful ladies we call MOM!

For my card, I used a wonderful stamp by our sponsor this week, the very generous STAMPlorations.  I used MOM Subway Art Builders #3 "Quiet Strength."  It is one of a series of subway art stamps for moms and I loved the various descriptors...they fit my mom perfectly!  This card is going to her, for sure.

While you could cut this stamp up to separate each phrase, I just masked repeatedly with a post-it and it worked fine!

For the frame, I did some inlaid die cutting, replacing one layer of the "frame" with a floral patterned paper instead of cream card stock.  While it may look multi-layered, my card is actually only one later on top of the card base, so it is very flat and easy for mailing.

I'm also linking my card up to the April CAS Card Challenge at the STAMPlorations Blog where the theme is "Anything Goes" and green is the color twist; I used some floral paper with lots of greens!
