A True Gem

Hello, friends!  No challenge or contest entry here, I just wanted to share a card I made for my best girlfriend using some new Papertrey Ink stamps and dies I recently purchased.

My sweet friend Andrea introduced me to the world of rubber stamping years ago and I am forever grateful for that!  (We met freshman year of high school, so she has been a big part of my life much longer than she hasn't!)  She lives about two hours away, so we don't see each other as often as I'd like....but we did get together on Easter and I feel recharged!  We hope to meet up at Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania later this spring, so I think I can hold on until then.  She is a true gem and so precious to me!

Materials Used:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink "Floral Foliage" and matching die, Hero Arts "Woodgrain Background"
Inks: Grass chalk ink, chocolate brown die ink
Other:  various patterned paper, Nestabilities Labels 8 dies, Martha Stewart grass punch, black fine Sharpie pen, pink gems, pop dots (tree is popped up)

I'm so relieved that I finally made a card using this new stamp set.  For some reason, when I order a bunch of new stamps at once I almost panic and can't do anything with any of them!  I still have stamps I received for Christmas that I have never inked...I look at them, then I totally blank and put them back for later.  (Does that ever happen to anyone else out there?  Please say it does!)  Instead of stamping, I go searching on Pinterest (a new addiction...eek!) for ideas, then I run out of time.  As a result, I have a bunch of news stamps that have never seen ink.  I do hope I can get them inky soon...I'm very frustrated with myself about this!

I hope your week is going well.  We are on Spring Break, and we just returned from a 2-day stay in New York City.  What a blast that was!  I'm hoping to post some fun pics from our big city adventure soon.

Thanks, as always, for stopping by.
Have a great day!

  1. Yes, Judy - that happens to me all the time. I have several uninked stamps just begging me to do something with them. Sometimes I make an attempt to use them and actually ink them up. But, then the design I wanted to make doesn't quite pan out, so I clean the stamp(s) and put them away again!!! LOL

I am sure Andrea will love this card; it is adorable and the sentiment is perfect for our "bestest" friends!!

  2. Hi Judy! I would LOVE to see some photos from your trip - sounds like fun!

I must say that when I buy new stamps, I actually ink them up right away - like a practice run, just to see what they look like. Then I do what you do with some of them. My mind goes blank and I can't for the life of me figure out how I want to use them! And you're right about Pinterest - it's addicting and eats away at our crafty time!

Love your card! The colors are so pretty and that tree is awesome! Love the sentiment too - so perfect for a dear friend! :)

  3. Judy, I completely agree with you, Joy and Barb...sooooo many times I've bought a stamp and then have it sit and collect dust because I just can't figure out how to use them! You did an EXCELLENT job on this card! Andrea will be thrilled to get it!!

I want you to know that I've nominated you for the Liebster Award. Please feel free to visit my blog @ http://stampandink.blogspot.com/2013/04/liebster-award.html for more info!!

  4. I am exactly the same when I get new stamps. I either panic or blank out or can only envision other cards I've seen with the stamps. So annoying! I love your card today especially the fun striped grass. :)

  5. Love that wood grain b/g and that tree is absolutely adorable especially with all those gems on it! I love that sentiment too!
And fret not, YES!! I too have purchased/received stamps that end up sitting on a shelf....they are ones I just "had to have" and then I get them and think "what exactly did I have in mind for you when I got you??" I think we must all be a little guilty of that :)
    Enjoy your Spring Break! XX

  7. totally loving this color combo Judy! What a sweet card and yes, I know completely what you mean about ordering stamps and then going into panic when they arrive. I bought several yesterday and also have not taken them out of the bag yet....
