I used my Labels Eight Nestabilities dies to cut a white card. I stamped the Hero Arts Bicycle using Grass chalk ink, and added little buttons from my stash to the wheels. I glued American Crafts ribbon to a strip of light blue card stock and used a Martha Stewart "Doily Lace" border punch on the edge; I attached this under the bicycle image. Finally, I added faux stitches around the card using pastel blue and green colored pencils. Here is how it turned out:
I have had these little buttons for years...I bought them at my local craft store and only have pink and blue left. They are so tiny and cute!
So, that's it for today.
Side bar...we hit 103 degrees yesterday and today with high humidity and a heat index of 110! So what did we do today? Two of my kids had plans (one had a day trip to the beach and another went to a baseball game), so the other two decided they wanted to go get their school supplies for the fall.

So that is what we did...off to Target and Staples, and they had all their school supplies out and on sale. Uugh! I'm not ready to wrap my mind around SCHOOL quite yet...but both stores were well air conditioned, so THAT was good. Actually, I was glad we put a dent in our list for September because we have a trip planned in late August and won't be here to shop.
Funny observation: My daughter shopped for folders as if they were accessories...she agonized over which patterns and colors to get, then quizzed me for an hour when we got home to see which one was my favorite. My son picked his folders within seconds. "These are good." Done. (And no follow-up quiz, either.) Funny, how different girls and boys can be.

Love your delightful card, Judy!! I like the colors and ribbons that you chose. A while back, I made a similar bike card with those tiny buttons, too! Thanks for sharing your happenings with your school supplies purchase. My son in high school noticed the NEW supplies at Wal-Mart and he told me that he is not ready to get back yet....(LO)! Your DD is so cute! Your post makes me smile! PS: if you give me your addy, I'll send you some baker's twine!

Love the difference between boys and girls. With two boys myself, they usually just told me, "Go ahead and get the stuff mom. Whatever you get is fine." Made it very easy for me! ReplyDeleteOh Judy I so love the clean and simply style of this card. That bike stamp is one I saw on sale at M's and I didn't get it due to not know what to do with it. You sure know how to use this stamp. I love the crispness of the white paper and the soft muted tone of the green. Then the blue bottom and stripped border just makes this card come to life. What a beauty! I love the design and soft femine touch of this card.
ReplyDeleteYour kids are so funny! Mine doens't even want to mention the word School, he gets all grumpy and tells me to stop talking about it too. I wish he was more aware of it like your kids and preparing early. I have him doing studies over the summer and I guess he thinks that is enought to deal with now. Lol. Sorry it is so hot there, but we are feeling the same here in my part of Canada. But it is summer and I try to remember what the winter was like and just smile again. Lol. What a great card! The bike is awesome! I hear ya about the heat. We got it here too - hit 118.4 the other day with humidex. I'm in Canada where a lot of people think we live in igloo's LOL
