PDCC #188: Two Pink Polka Dot Cards!

Hello, friends!  I am so happy that I have been able to play along at The Play Date Cafe for two weeks in a row!  This week's challenge is to use the colors: Raspberry...Pastel Pink...Lilac.

I actually made two cards for the challenge, using new pastel pink polka dot card stock I bought the other day.  I paired it with some Soft Lilac shadow ink, Raspberry dye ink, some sentiments/die from Papertrey Ink, accessories (twine, flowers, gems)...and voila!

MUSE #23 - Thanks

Hello, friends!

I am happy to be playing along at Muse where the challenge this week is to make a card based on a featured card...this week's guest designer is Anita (in France) and her card is awesome!  I had to play along!

muse

I interpreted Anita's linear design very literally!  I love her mix of pink, purple and blue gems/sequins, so I used those colors; I colored in random circles with colored pencils and added Glossy Accents to give them some dimension.  I chose another sentiment from the same Paper Smooches set Anita used ("Sentiment Sampler") because I love that set!

Materials Used:
Stamps: Sweet Stamp Shop "Sweet Tooth," Paper Smooches "Sentiment Sampler"
Inks: black dye ink
Other: colored pencils, Glossy Accents

I am also entering this card at the Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog where the theme is ANYTHING GOES!

Now I'm off to comment on some other entries at MUSE...and I'll be sure to pop back in on Monday to vote!  (Note that there were some timing changes regarding voting...check out the post HERE for more information about that.)

Thanks for stopping by..have a good one!

CASology #50: FREE

Hello, friends!  How fitting that this week's CASology cue should be the word FREE...because I am finally on summer vacation and FREE of work (for the most part) until September!  Now THAT is freedom!

Now that school is out, my family begins to prepare for our annual barbecue to celebrate July 4th, our Independence Day here in the USA.  This year I am giving out a little favor to our guests (this little Christmas tree ornament) and I made cards to go along with them.  Here are several cards that celebrate being FREE here in the USA!

This card was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest made by Zoie...must give credit where it is due!

These two cards are the same but I reversed the patterned paper...and put one star on an angle (after much deliberation and mustering of strength!)

Just using up what was left of the patterned paper...a few more stars!

I used my Spellbinders Nestabilities star dies, a Hero Arts sentiment, washi tape, some patterned papers and gems/sequins for these quick CAS cards.

This cue can go in many directions, and I do hope you will play along.  Check out the inspiration provided by our guest designer and the design team, too...that may help trigger some ideas if you are stuck!  Cards are due by Sunday 4:00 p.m. (CDT).

PDCC #187 - Sending Smiles

Hello, friends!  Can you tell I am enjoying my first day of summer vacation?  I have made several cards and have posted several times in a day or two!  Ahhh...so good to be back!

I have a great patterned paper pad from My Mind's Eye ("Oh La La for Her") that goes perfectly with the color cue at The Play Date Cafe this week, so I went ahead and made a second card for the challenge.  I could play with this zesty combo all day long!

(Not sure why the orange is looking reddish, it is quite orange in person!)

Because I used several patterns, I'm also entering this in the Moxie Fab Mixy-Matchy Style Challenge.

Materials Used:
Stamps: Hero Arts "Sending Smiles"
Inks: black dye ink
Paper: My Mind's Eye "Oh La La for Her" 6x6 designer paper pad,
Martha Stewart "Royal Butterfly" punch, square punch, corner rounder

Hello, friends!  I'm so glad to have some time to play...and what better way than to combine two of my favorite challenges!

This birthday card is for Jen at Less Is More using the colors from The Play Date Cafe "One Zesty Color" Challenge.

We'd love you to display our banner

Jen mentioned that she likes cats, fish and/or butterflies.  Our cards have to have some white space, too.  Here's what I came up with...a zesty, CAS card.  Happy Birthday, Jen!  (Note that Jen is also giving away some blog candy at her blog if you are interested in playing along!)

Materials Used:
Stamps: Hero Arts "Sending Smiles," "Heart Winged Butterfly"

Inks: black dye ink, Pool mid-tone shadow ink

CASology #47: WHEELS

Hello, friends!  Happy Tuesday!
Today we are back with a new cue word for CASology:

(Have you seen the new look at the CASology blog?  I'm loving it!)

For my card, I embossed my favorite Hero Ats bicycle image in white and used one of Hannelie's free digital sentiments found HERE, then I colored in the flowers and basket using markers.

Have you seen the beautiful free sentiments Hannelie offers us regularly at her blog, Desert Diva?  Be sure to check them out...they are amazing!  (Thanks so much for sharing, Hannelie!)

Now it's your turn to get those wheels turning...we hope you'll play along!  Be sure to check out the inspiring cards by our guest designer and design team, and link up your card by 4:00 p.m. (CDT) on Sunday!

LIM#122: Color

Hello, friends!  I stole some time today in between three soccer tournament games, a baseball game AND my DH's birthday to make a card for the current Less Is More challenge.  This time around we are challenged to make a card inspired by the color of our front door.

My front door is white, with maroon shutters on each side.  Throughout the spring and summer I keep a purple "berry" wreath on the door, and it never ceases to amaze me that birds will land on it and pick the berries off.  (Fun to watch from inside when only the storm door is open!)

The door, the shutters, and the wreath inspired my card.  I made it a Father's Day card because the colors seemed masculine, and I'll need one for my DH in a few weeks.  The card base is maroon, even though it looks brown in the photo.  I rounded the upper corners of the card to mimic the rounded windows in my door, and the dry embossing was inspired by the panels of the door.

I added some Stickles to the wreath for some interest...
Materials Used:
Stamps: Hero Arts "Celebrate Everyday," Papertrey Ink "Wreath for All Seasons"
Inks:brown dye ink, Soft Lilac shadow ink
Other: Stardust Stickles, Lifestyle Crafts "Whimsy" embossing folder

I'm so glad I was able to play along at Less Is More this week...it has been a while and I've missed it!

Hope your day is going well...thanks so much for stopping by!
